Trip to Kalgoolie, Goldfields, Western Australia

On the 25th of May, Kellie, Rohan and I were invited to join midwifery friends, Anne and Robina on an overnight trip to Kalgoolie, Goldfields.

It was a 4 hr drive and we passed through the townships of Grass patch, Salmon Gums and Norseman, arriving just before lunch.

We visited the museum

Rohan smelling the roses

Kellie playing bank teller

We then carried on to the super pit where they are mining for gold. The open pit is being dug to a depth of 500m

We stayed the night at the “Star and Garter” motel which was a block back from the notorious
red light area. Robina and I had to have a photo taken here

We visited the council chambers and learn’t about the local history, and acted out some
council meeting decisions

It was a great trip

About Me

My photo
We met in 1971 and it was Eric's dream to build his own yacht and sail the world. This became a joint dream but it was not until 1994 that we were able to start building. "Erica" was launched in 2001 after 7yrs building her. It then took us 5 yrs to prepare her and ourselves before leaving NZ to see the world
